On 16 July 2018, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to Japan held “Khmer Speech Contest 2018” at the Embassy in Tokyo with participation of H.E. Mr. Yukio IMAGAWA, Former Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia; Mr. Kensuke NAGASE, Principal Deputy Director of First Southeast Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Professor Yoshiaki Ishizawa, Director of the Sophia Asia Center for Research and Human Development and Chief of the Sophia Angkor International Mission; Cambodian people in Japan; Cambodian Student Association in Japan and Japanese friends who love Cambodia.
This is the third time during the diplomatic tenure of H.E. Ms. Chea Kimtha, Cambodia’s Ambassador to Japan for the Embassy to host this annual contestin order to encourage Japanese to study Khmer, promote study on Cambodia-Japan relations and advance understanding of Cambodia. After the speech contest, there were also a friendly gathering and reception for building network among participants and promoting Cambodian daily typical food respectively.
It’s noteworthy that Khmer Speech Contest is one among a series of events to deepen and strengthen firm traditional long last lasting cooperation and friendship between the two countries while the two countries are commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of Strategic Partnerships between the two countries in the year of 2018.
